Vandaag zijn we iets later wakker dan we hadden gewild. Doordat we vannacht pas om 03.30u in bed lagen en we wel de nodige uurtjes slaap hebben gepakt waren we pas tegen half één wakker. Na ja, ik dan! Edwin bleek al twee uurtjes wakker te zijn…
Op het programma van vandaag staat een wandeling door de Oude Stad. Bijzonder om te zien hoe een deel van de lokale bevolking van Shanghai leeft. Hele kleine straatjes met hele kleine huisjes.
Op een gegeven moment komen wij aan op een pleintje waar heel veel eetkraampjes staan. Met alle respect voor de lokale cultuur en gewoontes, maar wat een lucht hing daar. Kokhalzend ben ik daar heel snel van gelopen en tot drie keer aan toe bijna over mijn nek gegaan. Die geur is niet te omschrijven, maar dit is niet iets waar ik snel mijn eten zou kopen.
Na 17.00u begint het hier al te schemeren en voor 18.00u is het al pikdonker. Inmiddels lopen wij terug naar het hotel. Mijn voetjes kunnen wel even wat rust gebruiken.
Als avondeten besluiten we lekker sushi te gaan eten. Dit is echt verrukkelijk. Serieus veel beter dan de Shabu Shabu die wij gewend zijn. Na het eten duiken we lekker onze kamer in met een filmpje voor Edwin en foto’s voor Marsha.
